Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has urged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to speed up the expansion of National Highway-65, which connects Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Construction is expected to begin by January 2027.
The minister discussed the project in New Delhi with NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and member (projects) Vipnesh Sharma. He asked the authority to ensure the work starts at the earliest.
According to the minister, the NHAI chairman responded positively and set November 11 as the deadline for submitting tenders. The reported plan is to widen the existing four-lane highway to six lanes.
The project also proposes service roads on both sides and controlled-access facilities. The expansion is expected to improve traffic flow, ease congestion, reduce travel time and enhance road safety.
