An assistant engineer of the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1.2 lakh in Hyderabad on October 15, 2026.
ACB officials identified the accused as Pandala Sandhaya Rakesh. He works in the Madannapet section under the Santosh Nagar sub-division.
According to the ACB, he demanded the money from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly sought in return for approving an application to install six new electricity meters in place of old, missing meters.
Officials of the ACB City Range-II caught the assistant engineer red-handed. The bureau recovered the ₹1.2 lakh bribe amount from his possession at his instance. The agency said the officer acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.
The accused was being produced before the principal special judge for cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the ACB Act in Nampally, Hyderabad, for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
The bureau appealed to the public to report bribe demands by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be sent on WhatsApp at 9440446106, on Facebook at Telangana ACB and on X at @TelanganaACB. The ACB said the identity of the complainant would be kept confidential.
