Hyderabad: Police have arrested three people in connection with the accident at MVSR Engineering College in Nadergul, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. All three work for the company of event manager Saketh. Police took them into custody and also registered a case against the college management.
Police said the accident occurred because the lighting pole stood without proper support. This finding formed the basis of their action against the event company and the college.
The tragedy struck during Dandiya celebrations at the college on Saturday, when a lighting arch suddenly collapsed. The lighting pole broke and fell, and two young women died in the incident.
First-year BTech student Narayanadasu Sona (18) was among those who died. Fourteen other students sustained injuries, including Sona’s sister Meena.
