Police found 108 students consuming liquor at a farmhouse in Kammeta village, under Chevella police limits, on Friday night. Four of them tested positive for ganja consumption during drug screening.
The Chevella police and the Special Operations Team (SOT) jointly raided the LG Farmhouse after receiving credible information. The students were from ICFAI and IBS Colleges. The group included 71 boys and 37 girls, police said.
Police said the students were consuming liquor without the required permissions. Drug screening tests conducted during the raid showed that four persons tested positive for ganja consumption.
Police seized 15 grams of ganja, seven cars, three motorcycles and 70 mobile phones from the farmhouse.
Under Telangana excise rules, permission is required for serving liquor at private events, including parties held at farmhouses. Violations are liable for action under the applicable excise laws.
Chevella Police Station Inspector Narendra Reddy said a case had been registered and a detailed investigation was under way. He said further legal action would be taken in accordance with the law.
