Eluru District police rescued 22 persons who were trapped in floodwaters at Routhugudem village in Jeelugumilli Mandal. The group was stranded near an under-construction National Highway bridge as water levels rose in the area.
Heavy rainfall linked to Cyclone Murasu and changing weather conditions has affected the region. Streams and rivers are swelling due to heavy rain in the upper catchment areas, which has created dangerous situations at several locations.
Police teams have been carrying out rescue and relief operations in flood-affected areas of Eluru District. As part of these efforts, Jeelugumilli Circle Inspector Yadagiri and Sub-Inspector Kranthi Kumar responded quickly to the situation at Routhugudem along with their staff.
The police personnel safely brought out all 22 stranded persons. They carried out the operation despite heavy rain and strong flood currents in the area.
Police officials urged the public to stay alert and take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall. They advised people not to cross streams, canals or rivers when water levels are high.
People were also cautioned not to venture onto roads or bridges submerged in floodwaters. Officials asked residents to stay away from vulnerable areas and to strictly follow the instructions issued by the authorities.
