A celestial wedding song from 1961 still captivates audiences today.

In Bhadrachalam, the 63-year-old song “Sree Seetharamula Kalyanam Chothamu Rarandi” is a popular tune sung in Telugu households and temples during weddings. The song is from the Telugu film “Sita Rama Kalyanam” directed by Samudrala, starring N T Rama Rao as Ravana, Harinath as Rama, and Geetanjali as Sita. The film won 8 National Film Awards and was dubbed in Tamil after its success.

The song has remained unbeatable since its release, often referred to as “Na Bhooto, Na Bhavishyati” (Never before, Never again). It is played in temples and at weddings across the Telugu states, broadcast on radios, and featured in special programs on Sri Ramanavami on television channels. K Shankara Chary, a devotee of Lord Rama, praised the song for its lyrics by Gali Penchala Narasimha Rao and soothing music.

The song brings back the magic of the film to listeners, describing the process of a celestial wedding from invitations to bridal make-up.
