Asifabad: A large protest took place in the district center against creating a Tiger Zone. Many political leaders joined the march from the Kumaram Bheem intersection to show their support for the tribal community.
The protesters then gathered in front of the Collectorate to voice their concerns. Among them were MLA Kovalakshmi, former MLA Koneru Konappa, BRS State General Secretary RS Praveen Kumar, former MP Soyam Babu Rao, and Tudum Teb State President Kotnaka Vijay. They argued that the Tiger Zone threatens the survival of the tribal people.
Protesters pointed out that officials are already preventing the construction of bore wells and roads in villages by citing reserve forest laws. They also mentioned facing restrictions when entering the Tiger Zone.
The protestors demanded the immediate repeal of GO 49, which they believe hinders tribal development. A petition was presented at the Kumaram Bheem statue. District President Kova Vijay, tribal leaders Barsa Pochayya, Madavi Srinivas, and many tribals from across the district participated in the event.
