Hyderabad: Residents of Afsar Khan Colony near Moti Darwaza in Golconda are facing serious problems due to incomplete civic work and garbage dumping in their area.

Locals say that drainage work in the colony has not been finished. Last year, during heavy rains, a nearby nala (drain) overflowed and caused sewage water to gather near the GMK Function Hall. This made it difficult for people to step out of their homes.

After many complaints, new drainage work was started last year under the supervision of Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin. However, the work is still not complete. The roads remain dug up, making it hard for children and the elderly to move around safely.

Residents are now urging the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to complete the drainage work quickly. They also raised concerns about open drains and garbage piling up, which has led to an increase in mosquitoes. Locals are requesting fogging and chemical spraying to control the mosquito problem.
