AIMIM MLA Mohammed Mubeen was detained by Hyderabad police on 12 October 2026 during a protest against the partial demolition of a disputed boundary wall at Masjid-e-Mohammadia in Chintalmet, Rajendranagar.
Revenue officials, police and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) personnel began removing part of the wall. Mubeen and other AIMIM leaders arrived at the site and staged a sit-in, asking officials to conduct a joint survey with the Endowment Department before taking further action.
Police removed Mubeen and his supporters from the site and took them to a police station. Some reports identified the station as Ramgopalpet. Police were deployed in strength in the area to maintain order.
The dispute centres on rival claims over the land and structure. One community says the wall and the site belong to the mosque, while another claim is that the land is linked to a temple. Local BRS MLA T. Prakash Goud has also asserted that the land is temple-related.
Videos from the site show Mubeen questioning officials over the absence of a joint survey. He said the survey had been promised and demanded that it take place before work on the disputed wall continued.
In a social media post, Mubeen described himself as having been “arrested while standing to protect” the mosque. He said he had acted on instructions from AIMIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi.
Mubeen, a first-time MLA, won the Bahadurpura seat in 2023 after serving for years as a corporator. AIMIM recently appointed him in-charge of Rajendranagar after expelling another party leader. He has previously been detained during demolition drives involving disputed structures.
