    Air Marshal S Shrinivas has taken over as the new commandant of Air Force Academy in Secunderabad. He replaced Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar, who retired from service. Air Marshal Shrinivas has a science degree from the National Defence Academy and joined the Indian Air Force in 1987 as a fighter pilot.

    He has extensive flying experience with over 4,200 hours on various aircraft, including MiG-21, Iskra, Kiran, PC-7, HPT-32, Microlite, and others. He is also qualified as a second pilot on a Chetak/Cheetah helicopter and as an operations officer on SAM-III (Pechora) missile system.

    Throughout his career, he has held important command positions at different bases and schools. These include commanding a frontline fighter base, a prestigious flying training base, the Flying Instructors School, the Institute of Flight Safety, and Basic Flying Training School. He has also served as the chief instructor (flying) at the Air Force Academy and in various staff roles at HQ Central Air Command and the College of Air Warfare.

    Air Marshal Shrinivas has completed several advanced courses, including the National Defence College, College of Defence Management, and Defence Services Staff College. He has also obtained Master’s degrees in Defence and Strategic Studies and Management Studies.

    In recognition of his exceptional service, he has been awarded the Vishist Seva Medal and commendation by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief.
