AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi has strongly criticized the state government over the Musi Project, alleging that poor people are being displaced without adequate compensation. Speaking in the assembly, he demanded that the government immediately clarify how much compensation is being provided to those being relocated. He accused the administration of completely neglecting Old Hyderabad, stating that even key institutions like the High Court and other important buildings are now being shifted away from the area.
The Chandrayangutta MLA suggested improving parking facilities in the Charminar area to address congestion issues. He thanked the government for sanctioning Rs 500 crore for the construction of sewerage treatment plants at Chandrayangutta. However, he raised concerns about thousands of constructions in Hyderabad being built without proper permissions and demanded an immediate inquiry into such unauthorized structures.
Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi raised sharp questions over the allocation of a single massive contract worth Rs 1,400 crore for underground cabling works in Hyderabad. He questioned why one company was awarded the entire contract when it could have been divided among smaller contractors who also need opportunities to survive. He alleged that the same company receives all contracts and also makes donations to the BJP.
The MLA pointed out a stark contrast in the government’s financial priorities. He said that when it comes to fee reimbursement for students, support for farmers, or public welfare schemes, the government claims there is no money in the treasury. However, the same contractor receives payments on time without any delays. He further alleged that when he filed an RTI to find out how many bills were released to this company after the Congress government came to power, the information was not provided.
Regarding the division of GHMC into three corporations, Akbaruddin Owaisi questioned the actual reason behind this decision. He highlighted that the existing GHMC already faces a severe shortage of employees and struggles to pay adequate salaries. He asked how the government plans to recruit the required number of employees for the three newly established corporations and where the resources will come from to manage them effectively.
The AIMIM legislator emphasized that the government needs to be transparent about its decisions affecting Hyderabad and its residents. He stated that major infrastructure decisions involving thousands of crores should not benefit only a select few companies but should be distributed fairly among various contractors to ensure broader economic participation and accountability in public spending.
