Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Independence Day speech. Owaisi pointed out that the BJP government in Gujarat had approved the release of the rapists and murderers of Bilkis Bano’s family.

In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Owaisi highlighted that while Modi expressed concern for women’s safety, his own government had approved the release of those convicted in the Bilkis Bano case. He noted that Bilkis Bano spent 15 years seeking justice, and during much of that time, Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat.

Owaisi further accused Modi of supporting a candidate in Karnataka who is alleged to have committed serious crimes against women. He claimed that the BJP leadership was aware of these allegations before they became public.

During his address from the Red Fort on the 78th Independence Day, Modi spoke out against incidents of rape and violence against women. However, Owaisi questioned the sincerity of these remarks. He argued that if the Prime Minister does not take women’s safety seriously, it is difficult to expect societal change. He also criticized the ruling party for celebrating the release of convicted rapists, questioning the message it sends to society.
