Hyderabad: The State Prohibition and Excise Department has suspended Venu Kumar, the Excise Inspector from Balanagar, due to an incident involving adulterated toddy.

The department is also investigating the possible negligence of four other officials. The officials under scrutiny are Narsi Reddy, Madhavaiah, Jeevan Kiran, and Fayaz.

More than 30 people experienced health issues after drinking the contaminated toddy. All affected individuals are currently receiving care at NIMS Hospital in the city. Sadly, at least six people died after consuming the tainted toddy from a shop in Kukatpally.

The Excise authorities have stated that they will decide on further actions once they receive a detailed report from the investigation into the toddy adulteration at the licensed shop in Kukatpally.
