The Telangana unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bandi Sanjay Kumar, was arrested by police in Karimnagar on Tuesday night. The BJP leaders have condemned the arrest, calling it illegal and politically motivated. They have alleged that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in the state is gripped with fear. BJP’s national general secretary BL Santosh tweeted that the BRS government has touched a raw nerve by arresting the BJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay. Santosh also said that BRS and its leadership are facing electoral reverses and are a sinking boat. Another Central leader of BJP, Amit Malviya, tweeted that the Telangana Police arrested Bandi Sanjay on fabricated charges of being involved in secondary school paper leak. Bandi Sanjay was arrested from his in-laws’ house in Karimnagar and is believed to have been arrested in question paper leak of Class 10 exam. He is likely to be produced before a magistrate later in the day.
