Ambedkar Youth Association Seeks Action Against Wrongful SC Inclusion

The All India Ambedkar Youth Association, led by its District President Macharla Prakash, submitted a memorandum to District Collector Santosh in Jogulamba Gadwal. The association urged the government to reject the inclusion of BC Kurubas in the Scheduled Castes (SC) category that was listed under a social caste survey. They claimed that some individuals had falsely registered as “Madasi Kuruba” and “Madhari Kuruba” under the SC category. The association demanded a re-evaluation of their social and economic conditions and called for the cancellation of G.O. 19.

In the district, it was alleged that certain BC Kurubas had illegally identified themselves as Scheduled Castes, even though they do not belong to the SC community. Back in 2017, an inquiry led by the then-Mahbubnagar District Collector, T.K. Sridevi, confirmed that these individuals were not part of the SC category. Despite these findings, some individuals reportedly misled officials to fraudulently gain SC benefits, including education, jobs, and political opportunities, which eventually led to the issuance of G.O. 19.

The association stressed that these individuals are socially and economically well-off, enjoying better living conditions than the BC Kuruba community. They cautioned that such misrepresentation could create tensions between the BC Kuruba and SC communities. To prevent further misuse, they urged the District Collector to thoroughly review the conditions of these individuals and stop issuing SC caste certificates to those who do not qualify.

The memorandum was presented by a group of association leaders, including Macharla Prakash, Ravi Chander, Prasangi Nagaraju, Markendeya, Care Babu, Vijay, Lazar, Suresh, Madanna, Mandabisan, Songanna, and Ravi, among others.

The All India Ambedkar Youth Association reinforced its support for this demand and called for a detailed investigation to address the issue effectively.
