Hyderabad: Gavvala Bharat Kumar, the State President of the BC Welfare Association, is worried about the delay in implementing the BC reservation bill. He warned that any delay could lead to growing dissatisfaction among BCs which might be evident in the local body elections.
In a statement to the media, he questioned why major political parties, despite claiming to support BC reservation, are creating obstacles.
He pointed out that without proper reservations for BCs in local elections, social justice in rural areas suffers.
The BC Association’s State President stated that implementing a 42% reservation in local bodies would ensure better representation for BCs in Gram Panchayats, Mandal Parishads, and Zilla Parishads. Currently, the 23% reservation only increases inequalities. He emphasized that a 42% reservation could secure around 5,000 seats for BCs, which would aid rural development.
