Hyderabad: An email warning of explosive devices made with RDX at locations like the City Civil Court and Raj Bhavan caused alarm in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Police, with the help of dog and bomb squads, searched thoroughly for over three hours. They concluded that the threat was false.
The scare began when an email arrived at 3:53 am, claiming bombs were placed at the City Civil Court. Court officials noticed the email at 11 am, leading to the evacuation of the premises. Judges, lawyers, staff, and visitors quickly left the building in fear.
Mirchowk Police secured the area and searched for explosives. The email, supposedly from upset students of Anna University, aimed to get the attention of the Tamil Nadu DGP. It claimed a bomb at the “Gymkhana Club Hyderabad” would explode 23 minutes after the court bomb.
The email also mentioned that the four RDX-based devices were designed to cause minimal damage.
Searches extended to Raj Bhavan, Gymkhana Club, and Secunderabad Civil Court. Police and bomb squads checked these sites and informed the public. After thorough checks, police confirmed no suspicious items were found at any of the locations mentioned in the email.
