Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accused the ruling Congress party of planning large-scale vote fraud in the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election in Hyderabad. The BRS called on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to step in and guarantee fair and honest voting.
The BRS wants central security forces to be stationed across all of Jubilee Hills during the by-election on November 11. They are also asking the ECI to set up CCTV cameras and provide live webcasting from every polling booth, all supervised by central officials.
K. R. Suresh Reddy, leader of the BRS parliamentary party, wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner. In his letter, he demanded action to prevent mass rigging, the creation of fake voter IDs, booth capturing, and intimidation. He specifically named the Congress candidate Naveen Yadav and the Congress party as those responsible for these threats.
The BRS pointed out that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the entire state cabinet are leading the Congress campaign in Jubilee Hills. They claim that Revanth Reddy has spent six straight days campaigning in the area, and that winning this by-election is crucial for him after the Congress failed to win a single seat in Hyderabad during the November 2023 General Elections.
The BRS also highlighted the significant minority vote in the constituency. They alleged that the Congress recently added former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin to the state cabinet, despite him not holding any legislative position, to sway minority voters.
According to the BRS, the Chief Minister is also the Home Minister and has used his power to intimidate BRS supporters. They claim that BRS leaders have been abducted, beaten, and harassed. The BRS says municipal authorities are targeting their members—especially those running small businesses—by accusing them of illegal construction and unauthorized business activities.
The BRS further alleged that the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) is supporting the Congress candidate. They claim MIM workers are identifying active BRS minority leaders in the area and trying to either win them over or silence them.
BRS also accused local police and government officials of acting in favor of Congress. They said the Chief Electoral Officer and District Election Officer are not taking effective action, as their appointments and transfers are controlled by the ruling party.
The letter from BRS warns that the Congress has prepared for major vote rigging and identity fraud. They claim that many Muslim women wearing burqas are being brought from different parts of Hyderabad, especially the Old City, into Jubilee Hills to commit mass rigging. The BRS says fake voter IDs are being created by misusing Aadhaar-linked data and copying real voter cards.
The BRS insists that these fake identities are being given to people from outside the constituency so they can illegally vote for the Congress candidate.
