Hyderabad: The BRS leaders are set to present a powerpoint on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in response to the PC Ghose Commission report. Harish Rao will deliver this presentation at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, and it will be broadcast to district party offices.
During recent meetings at his farmhouse, BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao instructed senior leader T Harish Rao to prepare a counter to the commission’s report. This move aims to inform the public about the BRS perspective. A senior party member mentioned that discussions were held at KCR’s farmhouse even before the commission’s report was released. They anticipated the report would favor the government, and the party chief wanted to highlight its positive impact on Telangana, including increased production of food grains like paddy.
BRS leaders in districts have been directed to attend and watch the presentation. The party aims to dispel misinformation about the Kaleshwaram project, emphasizing that only two pillars were damaged. The project includes three barrages (Medigadda, Annaram, Sundilla), 15 reservoirs, 21 pump houses, 19 substations, 203 kilometers of tunnel, and significant water storage and utilization capacities.
The BRS chief urged leaders to inform the public that the government is diverting attention from serious issues and blaming KCR. He noted that the Congress party might use the report to their advantage in upcoming local elections, which is why it was released now. The party is also focusing on inevitable bypolls due to the Supreme Court’s orders. Additionally, the BRS may consider challenging the commission’s report in court.
