A Khalistani mob attacked Hindu devotees at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, Canada on Sunday. A video of the incident was circulated online in which pro-Khalistani men are seen wielding sticks and attacking Hindu devotees outside the temple. The mob of men was carrying flags of the Khalistan movement.

Condemning the violence, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is currently drowned in controversy surrounding his defense of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s murder, took to X and said, “The acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton today are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely.”

Peel Regional Police reached the temple to control the situation and restore law and order. The police chief, Nishan Duraiappah, said, “We respect the right to protest in a peaceful and safe manner but will not tolerate violence and criminal acts. Those that do participate in this activity will be pursued, arrested and charged.”

Indian origin MP Chandra Arya took to X to express outrage, “A red line has been crossed by Canadian Khalistani extremists today. The attack by Khalistanis on the Hindu-Canadian devotees inside the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton shows how deep and brazen has Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada. I begin to feel that there is a small grain of truth in the reports that in addition to Canadian political apparatus, Khalistanis have effectively infiltrated into our law enforcement agencies.”

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs in India, said in a statement, “We condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by extremists and separatists at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, yesterday. We call on the government of Canada to ensure that all places of worship are protected from such attacks. We also expect that those indulging in violence will be prosecuted.” The High Commission of India in Canada deplored the violent disruption and said that it was orchestrated by anti-India elements.

This attack has occurred at a time when Trudeau’s credibility, both within Canada and in India’s eyes, is at an all-time low. This incident might just be the last nail in Trudeau’s political coffin, after his party’s MPs urged him to step down from office and not seek a fourth term.
