Two MPs and an MLA from the YSR Congress party have joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday. The joining took place in the presence of TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu.
Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad joined the TDP in Amaravathi in the morning, while Rajya Sabha member Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy joined at a meeting in Nellore. Naidu announced Prabhakara Reddy as the TDP candidate for Nellore MP. He criticized Anil Kumar Yadav, who was shifted by YSR Congress from Nellore MLA to Narasaraopet Lok Sabha seat.
Naidu strongly criticized Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, referring to remarks made by Sunitha Narreddy about the killing of her father and allegations against YS Avinash Reddy and Jagan. Naidu also mentioned abusive comments against APCC chief YS Sharmila and accused Jagan of encouraging such behavior within his party.
At a campaign rally in Gurazala, Naidu welcomed Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu into the TDP. He emphasized that only leaders with character and credibility were being admitted to the party, predicting a significant victory for the TDP.
Interestingly, Naidu did not announce the candidacies of Vasantha Krishna Prasad and Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu from their respective constituencies. Both leaders belong to the Kamma caste. Naidu stated that only after conducting an IVRS survey were leaders being admitted to the party, highlighting the TDP’s focus on development compared to what he sees as destruction by the YSRCP.
