Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to turn Hyderabad into a clean city and a traffic-free city. He made it clear that no garbage should be visible anywhere in the city. He also asked officials to monitor garbage collection continuously.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence. He said steps should be taken to collect garbage from every household on a daily basis. He instructed that strict action should be taken against those who show negligence.
He suggested special arrangements for the removal of construction waste. He also advised officials to coordinate with Industrial Local Authority officials for garbage collection in industrial areas within municipal limits.
The Chief Minister asked officials to create awareness so that the green tankers are put to good use. These tankers supply purified water from sewage treatment plants (STPs) for construction works, park maintenance, landscaping, gardening and other activities in the city.
He noted that drinking water is currently used for needs such as the construction sector, greenery maintenance and park development. Using purified water from STPs instead, he said, can help conserve drinking water.
He recalled that in the first phase, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has started services with 28 green water tankers from 19 STPs. He suggested expanding green water supply further in GHMC areas, as well as in CMC and MMC areas.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to address traffic problems and prepare plans for underpasses and elevated corridors at required locations to introduce a signal-free system. He said efforts should ensure vehicles keep moving at signals without coming to a halt as much as possible. MP Vem Narender Reddy and senior officials from HMDA and municipal corporations took part in the meeting.
