Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced plans to design the new airport in a way that promotes Warangal as a future mega city. The proposal aims to use the airport as a key driver for the city’s development and growth.

During a review meeting on Thursday night, the Chief Minister discussed land acquisition and other plans for the Warangal (Mamunur) Airport. Highlighting the importance of airport accessibility for attracting international investments, he noted that countries like South Korea prioritize this factor when deciding where to invest. To ensure Warangal Airport stands out, Revanth Reddy suggested studying the well-equipped Kochi Airport as a model.

The CM directed officials to create a comprehensive road network plan, including radial roads and a Warangal Outer Ring Road (ORR), to connect the airport seamlessly. He also emphasized the need for routes that provide direct access to the airport from old Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, and Nalgonda districts.

Revanth Reddy further proposed transforming Warangal into a city on par with Hyderabad by establishing industries such as textiles, IT, and pharma. The new airport would also cater to the needs of tourists and devotees visiting popular destinations like Medaram Jatara, Laknavaram, and the historic Ramappa temple, ensuring smooth and hassle-free travel.
