Hyderabad is set for an important gathering on August 28, where Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will lead a meeting to strategize making Telangana a key location for major sports events, including the Olympics.
The meeting will involve the Telangana Sports Hub Board of Governors, who will focus on enacting the Telangana Sports Policy, 2025. Key topics include promoting sports excellence, developing the sports ecosystem, enhancing infrastructure, and creating career opportunities in sports.
The Board, chaired by Upasana Konidela, includes members like Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, Kaviya Maran, Vita Dani, and C. Sashidhar. Renowned athletes such as Abhinav Bindra, Pullela Gopichand, Baichung Bhutia, Ravikanth Reddy, and Kapil Dev are also invited. The city’s past successes with the National Games 2002, Afro-Asian Games 2003, and Military World Games 2007 will be highlighted.
Additionally, the meeting will explore making Telangana a center for sports manufacturing, technology, fan engagement, and facility management. Integrating sports events with local attractions like lakes, trails, heritage sites, and adventure tourism will also be discussed.
