Gadwal‘s District Collector, B.M. Santosh, urged Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) to speed up house construction under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. The goal is for all beneficiaries to soon have their own homes.
On Friday, the Collector met with MPDOs at the IDOC meeting hall to review the housing project’s progress. He was unhappy with the slow pace of construction in the district and warned that neglectful officials would face serious consequences.
He was particularly concerned about the lack of progress in Aiza Mandal. He instructed the District Panchayat Officer to transfer the MPDO there for negligence. Despite the availability of resources like sand and soil, the expected progress wasn’t happening. The Collector emphasized the need for officials to take charge and speed up the work.
The Collector told MPDOs to visit villages regularly and keep a close watch on the work. When some MPDOs mentioned that certain beneficiaries were not interested in starting construction, he instructed them to remove these names from the online list. He emphasized that construction should be accelerated in the next ten days to meet government standards.
To help beneficiaries lacking funds, the Collector asked Area Project Managers (APMs) to identify those in need. He suggested they work with SERP and MEPMA to secure loans for them through women’s self-help groups, ensuring no one is left behind due to financial issues.
He stressed that by the next review meeting, there should be notable progress in the housing projects.
Additional Collectors Lakshminarayana and Narsinga Rao, DPO Nagendram, and officials from the Housing Department, along with MPDOs, Municipal Commissioners, and APMs, attended the meeting.
