Hyderabad: The Congress party has strongly criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), blaming it for blocking progress in Telangana. According to Congress, the BRS leadership is upset and losing its influence as the political environment in the state continues to shift.
Speaking to the media, Congress spokesperson Bandi Sudhakar Goud accused BRS of failing the people after the formation of Telangana. He said the party, originally known as TRS, came to power with big promises but delivered very little during its 10-year rule.
Sudhakar pointed out that KCR, BRS chief and former Chief Minister, had pledged to make a Dalit the Chief Minister, a promise he never fulfilled. Instead, KCR kept the top post for himself. He also promised three acres of land for Dalits, which, according to Congress, turned out to be just empty words.
Addressing the issue of pending contractor payments, Sudhakar blamed BRS’s poor governance for the problem. He stated that the Congress government had inherited nearly ₹60,000 crore in unpaid bills from the previous administration.
He also criticized BRS for spreading false claims about the real estate sector in the state. “They are using paid YouTube channels to say that the market has crashed, that no one is buying property,” said Sudhakar. “But the truth is that this mess was created under BRS rule.”
Congress insists that BRS is trying to mislead the public to cover up its failures and is now resorting to negative tactics after losing power.
