The Centre’s unfulfilled promises to Telangana have been criticised by CPI national executive member Chada Venkat Reddy. Reddy has accused the BJP-led Central government of being biased towards Telangana and not honouring the assurances given to the state under the AP Reorganisation Act 2014. According to Reddy, the Centre is required to establish a rail coach factory in Kazipet, a steel plant in Bayyaram, and a tribal university in Mulugu. However, these promises have not been fulfilled. The Centre has also ignored the demand for granting national status to the Pranahita-Chevella project.

In light of these issues, Reddy has stated that the BJP has no moral right to seek votes in Telangana. The CPI cadres will be taking up the Praja Poru Yatra in the former Warangal district from March 25 to April 5 in protest against the Centre’s biased approach towards Telangana. Reddy has also stated that the CPI will work with like-minded parties to exert pressure on the Centre until it concedes bifurcation assurances.

The meeting will be attended by the CPI national general secretary D Raja. Venkat Reddy released posters of Praja Poru yatra, and senior leaders Nedunuri Jyothy, Potharaju Saraiah, Karre Bikshapathi, Mekala Ravi, Ch Raja Reddy, and B Vijayasaradhi were among others present.
