Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) has taken action against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), filing police reports in multiple districts. The TCA accuses the HCA of misusing funds meant for cricket development over the last 20 years.
TCA’s district committees from Khammam, Warangal, Adilabad, and Mahbubnagar have approached their respective Superintendents of Police. Dharam Guruva Reddy, the TCA’s General Secretary, revealed that HCA’s annual financial statements claim an allocation of Rs 20 lakh each year for cricket development. However, a forensic audit by E&Y found no proof of these funds being utilized in the districts.
Reddy pointed out that investigative committees appointed by both the High Court and the Supreme Court had suggested probing and holding accountable those misusing funds. Yet, he claims that the HCA’s elected bodies have continuously ignored these recommendations.
As a result, four TCA district units have filed criminal complaints against HCA-related clubs in their areas. The TCA plans to lodge more complaints against other district clubs soon, demanding legal action against those involved in misappropriating funds meant for supporting underprivileged and rural cricketers in Telangana State.
