The Airport Security Group (ASG) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Rangareddy prevented a smuggling attempt on Saturday. Two individuals, Shaik Khaja Rahematullah and Shaik Jani Basha, were apprehended by the ASG team. They had arrived from Riyadh via Muscat on Flight No- WI 0686/WY 0231.

During the investigation, the ASG team used the Random X-BIS (Echo-5) machine to thoroughly examine the passengers’ belongings. A suspicious image led to a closer inspection, which uncovered approximately 1 kg of gold hidden in a packet of dry fruits. The gold is valued at around Rs 60,000,00.

The ASG team immediately informed the customs officials, who quickly arrived at the scene. Both passengers, along with the concealed gold and their belongings, were taken into custody. They were then handed over to RGIA customs for further necessary action.
