On March 28, 2023, Vishwachand Kolla, a 47-year-old Indian-American data analyst and employee of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, was killed at Boston’s Logan International Airport while waiting to pick up a visiting musician. According to US media reports, Kolla was standing on the driver’s side of his Acura SUV at the lower level of Terminal B when he was struck by a Dartmouth Transportation motor coach. The middle of the bus made contact with Kolla and dragged him along the driver’s side of his SUV. An off-duty nurse tried to help Kolla, but he died at the scene. Massachusetts State Police interviewed the bus driver, a 54-year-old woman, and inspected the bus, but she has not been charged at this point in the investigation. The passengers were quickly evacuated from the bus, and their luggage was moved to another part of the airport. Kolla’s relatives have set up a gofundme page to support his wife and two sons, which has raised over $400,000 of its $750,000 goal. Takeda industries expressed their condolences and offered support to Kolla’s family during this difficult time.
