Madhira (Khammam): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu announced a plan to empower one crore women by providing them with interest-free loans totaling Rs 1 lakh crore over five years. At the Indira Mahila Shakti Sambarala event, he handed out loan cheques, insurance documents, and home sanction papers to beneficiaries from Chintakani mandal.
Bhatti outlined the strategy to distribute Rs 20,000 crore in interest-free loans annually to women, with Rs 21,632 crore already allocated in the first year. Loans are being distributed between July 12 and July 21.
The government is also setting up solar power projects through women’s groups. A 2 Mega Watt plant is planned on 4 acres in Madhira constituency. Farmers offering land for these projects will receive Rs 35,000 annually.
Women’s groups are being involved in renting buses to the RTC company and participating in industrial parks to increase their business engagement.
A new loan insurance scheme of Rs 2 lakh and accident insurance of Rs 10 lakh is available for women group members.
To fulfill prior promises, 4.5 lakh houses have been approved in the first phase, costing Rs 22,500 crore, with Rs 5 lakh granted for each house. The state regularly releases funds for these Indiramma houses, ensuring no delays.
Construction of these homes should start with community involvement, ensuring allocation to all eligible poor families without political bias. The event also saw participation from State SERP CEO D Divya, District Collector Anudeep Durishetty, Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt, and Wyra MLA Ramdas Naik.
