Warangal – On Saturday, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy visited key irrigation development sites in Hanumakonda district, including the Devadula pump house at Devannapet and the tunnel construction at the Dharmasagar reservoir.
During their inspection, the ministers reviewed the progress of Devadula Package-6, a major project aimed at improving irrigation in drought-prone areas. These include the Station Ghanpur, Palakurthi, Wardhannapet, and Jangaon constituencies.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the Devadula project will be fully completed within the next two years. Once finished, it will provide water to large stretches of farmland. He emphasized the government’s strong commitment to boosting agriculture through irrigation, highlighting a massive budget of ₹23,000 crore allocated for this purpose.
The minister also shared a key goal: to bring irrigation to five lakh acres during the current financial year. This target, he said, reflects the government’s dedication to strengthening farmers’ livelihoods and addressing water scarcity.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy added that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is determined to finish all pending irrigation projects across the state. He noted that every effort is being made to speed up construction and deliver results to farmers as soon as possible.
Several leaders and officials joined the inspection, including MLAs Naini Rajender Reddy, Kadiyam Srihari, K R Nagaraju, Yashaswini Reddy, and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani, KUDA Chairman E Venkatram Reddy, Irrigation Special Secretary Prashanth Jeevan Patil, Hanumakonda District Collector P Pravinya, and Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Tanaji Wakade were also present.
The visit underlined the government’s renewed focus on accelerating irrigation projects to support farmers and improve agricultural productivity in Telangana.
