Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, announced that the country plans to open more embassies in Africa and host a summit with African leaders. Kuleba stated that Ukraine wants to establish a new quality of partnership with African countries based on mutual respect, mutual interests, and mutual benefits. Russia has ties with African countries and will host a Russia-Africa summit in Saint Petersburg from July 26-29. Kuleba is currently on a tour of Africa and made an appeal from Addis Ababa on Wednesday to Ukraine’s “African friends” to end their declared neutrality in the war. He stressed the efforts to unblock Ukraine grain exports, which have been hamstrung by Russia’s naval blockade of its ports.
