    The upcoming elections for the District Granite Industries Association will bring a change in leadership. President P Shankar shared this news during a recent meeting at the association’s premises in Elagandula Panchayat, Kothapalli mandal on Saturday.

    Shanker announced that elections will be held within three months after appointing the Election Officer to elect a new executive committee according to the association’s bylaws.

    During his ten-year tenure, Shanker mentioned the growth of granite factories in the district. The number of factories increased from 82 to 425 since he took office in 2014.

    The president talked about how the association has tackled challenges in the industry, such as demonetisation, GST issues, the impact of COVID-19, geopolitical tensions like the Russian war, and construction industry recessions.

    Shankar reassured members of the association about their commitment to transparency and promised timely elections within three months as per the bylaws. He also denounced unfounded allegations and said legal action would be taken against them.

    The general secretary, treasurer, vice president, joint secretaries, working group members, and industrial owners were all present at the meeting.
