Overhead power lines snapped and fell onto an intercity express train between Lalaguda and Secunderabad stations in Hyderabad on Monday night, causing loud electrical sparks and panic among passengers. The incident occurred when the Overhead Electrical Equipment (OHE) failed at approximately 22:38 hours, creating a tense situation before the alert driver managed to bring the train to a safe halt. Fortunately, the quick response prevented what could have been a major disaster on one of the city’s busiest railway routes.

The South Central Railway (SCR) promptly issued a clarification regarding the incident, confirming that there were no casualties or injuries to any passengers or railway staff. Railway officials immediately swung into action following reports of the tripping to restore normal operations. The authorities worked swiftly to address the technical failure and ensure passenger safety remained the top priority during the emergency response.

Train operations on both up and down lines were temporarily affected by the OHE failure, but services were quickly normalized. Several trains were detained or regulated for less than 10 minutes before being cleared to resume their journeys. Among the affected services was Train No. 12795, the Vijayawada-Lingampalli Express, which was detained in the section and subsequently moved towards Secunderabad station under controlled conditions.
