Encouragement for the Public to Utilize Crematoriums

The district collector of Mahabubnagar, G Ravi Nayak, expressed his concern regarding the underutilization of crematoriums in most of the major villages. During a video conference with the MPDOs and MPOs, Nayak emphasized the need for sensitizing rural communities to make use of newly constructed crematoriums. He also stressed the importance of providing basic facilities such as electricity, water, and bathrooms at all crematoriums.

The collector observed that although many new crematoriums have been constructed in villages, most people still prefer to cremate their loved ones on their own lands or other places. Nayak emphasized that this practice needs to change, given that the state government has invested crores of rupees in constructing crematoriums and other facilities in each village. He urged panchayat secretaries to encourage villagers to use village crematorium facilities for performing last rites.

In addition to discussing crematoriums, the collector also reviewed the MGNREGA scheme and asked officials to increase its coverage during the dry season. He urged officials to provide laborers with shade from the hot sun and other necessary facilities.

The video conference was attended by Revenue Additional Collector K Sitarama Rao, DRDO Yadaiah, APD Zakia Sultana, DPO Venkateshwarlu, Divisional Panchayat Officer, MPDOs, MPOs, and Panchayat Secretaries.
