Food safety teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation conducted a comprehensive inspection at PVR INOX located in Inorbit Mall, Hyderabad, as part of their regular food safety inspection drive. The inspection uncovered several violations including expired food items and spoiled vegetables, which were immediately discarded on the spot. The multiplex cinema, a popular entertainment destination in the city, underwent thorough scrutiny of its food handling and storage practices during the inspection.
During the inspection, food safety officers discovered expired sev and spoiled cauliflower on the premises, both of which were discarded immediately. Additional concerns were raised regarding the housekeeping standards of the Coke dispensary area, which required improvement. Inspectors also noted labelling deficiencies on certain food items and found cooked chicken tikka stored in a freezer, which violates proper food storage protocols. These findings prompted immediate corrective action from the inspection team.
The inspection also revealed several positive practices being followed at the establishment. Food handlers were observed using proper protective equipment including hairnets and aprons. The facility maintained proper records of expiry and use-by dates, along with documentation for medical fitness certificates, pest control measures, and water testing reports. The management had deployed FOSTAC-certified Food Safety Supervisors and maintained proper segregation between vegetarian and non-vegetarian items.
The food safety team noted that the establishment followed hot water sanitation procedures for utensils and showed no signs of pest infestation during the inspection. These good practices demonstrated the establishment’s commitment to maintaining basic hygiene standards. However, the presence of expired and spoiled food items highlighted gaps in inventory management and quality control processes that needed immediate attention.
Following the inspection, authorities issued instructions for improved housekeeping and food storage practices to the management. The establishment received a hygiene assessment score of 171 out of 182 marks, translating to 94 percent compliance with food safety standards. The Cyberabad food safety teams continue to conduct regular inspections across various food establishments to ensure safe food practices and better hygiene standards for consumers.
