Mehul Choksi is a fugitive who is wanted in a fraud case worth Rs 13,500 crore. He moved a civil lawsuit claiming that he was treated inhumanely or degraded, and won the case in Antigua and Barbuda High Court. The court ruled that Choksi cannot be removed from the country without their order. He argued that there should be an investigation into his forced removal from Antigua and Barbuda on May 23, 2021. The defendants argued that there is no valid complaint for any failure to carry out an effective investigation. Choksi’s civil lawsuit includes incidents like collusion, forced abduction, removal from Antigua and Barbuda, assault, and battery.
