Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has directed officials to ensure that lakes and baby ponds are fully prepared for the upcoming Ganesh immersion. She emphasized that all necessary facilities should be in place to accommodate the festival activities.

On Friday, the Mayor, along with the zonal commissioner and local corporators, visited several lakes and baby ponds in the Kukatpally zone to assess ongoing preparations. Among the areas inspected were Hasmathpet Lake, Pragathi Nagar Lake, IDL Lake, and Vennela Gadda Ponds.

During the inspection, Mayor Vijayalakshmi provided specific recommendations to the officials to ensure a smooth immersion process. She stressed the importance of completing all arrangements in a timely manner so that devotees have a seamless experience during the festival.

Mayor Vijayalakshmi instructed the officers to handle the removal of immersed idols in the traditional manner. She advised that uninterrupted power supply, lighting, mobile toilets, drinking water, health camps, help desks, and an adequate number of cranes should be provided. Proper sanitation management was also highlighted as a key requirement.

The Mayor expressed her dissatisfaction with Ramky and other officials regarding the presence of floating waste in the ponds. She issued clear instructions for the immediate removal of the trash.

In addition to the immersion preparations, Mayor Vijayalakshmi reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects in the area, including the development of an open gym at KPHB, the construction of a box culvert at Amma Bhagavan Temple, and the development of a football ground in Mangapuram Colony. She urged the authorities to expedite these projects.
