Payam Venkateswarlu, a 49-year-old Tribal leader, was recently re-elected as the MLA of Pinapaka constituency. He comes from an agricultural background in Bandarugudem village in Kothagudem district.

Payam was previously involved in the AISF student organization linked to CPI and served as a CPI member of the State committee. He ran as an MLA candidate from CPI before switching to YSRCP party and eventually joining the BRS party.

A supporter of Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Payam decided to join the Congress party and defeated the BRS leader in the recent elections. His wife, Prameela, has been a constant support in his political career.
