Hyderabad has taken a major step towards improving city management by partnering with Google. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is launching a new pilot project using GenAI to tackle civic issues and enhance services for residents.

This project aligns with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision to make Hyderabad a city powered by advanced technology. Officials held a virtual meeting on Monday to plan the project’s progress.

The meeting included MA&UD Secretary Ilambarthi, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, IT Additional Commissioner Anuraag Jayanthi, and senior Google representatives. This collaboration is a significant step in GHMC’s digital evolution. Successful trials could set an example nationwide for tech-driven urban living.

Google’s AI will focus on several areas: improving government and citizen services, enhancing search functions on government websites, and developing chatbots and search tools for employees. Other initiatives include classification systems for citizen inquiries, blockchain-based credentials for services, AI-driven tender evaluations, smart parking solutions, and solid waste management optimization.

The project will also automate form filling, track public buses in real-time, and use AI for road safety and traffic models. It will harness Google Cloud APIs for health records, create a citywide health analytics platform, and employ AI for disease detection and prevention. Additionally, it will monitor lake dumping and construction waste, and help ASHA workers with an AI assistant called ‘Many’.
