GHMC ensures smooth conduct of Ganesh immersions in the city

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made all the necessary arrangements for the Ganesh Shobhayatra and immersions. There are 90,000 Ganesh idols in Greater Hyderabad, and around 30,000 of them will be immersed in the Tank Bund. To facilitate the immersions, Hussainsagar and other ponds have been prepared. Additionally, 14 cranes have been installed near the Tank Bund, and 72 baby ponds have been set up across the city for PoP idols.

Next to the ponds, there are 28 baby ponds where idols ranging from 10 to 12 feet will be immersed. Waste removal measures have been taken after 60 to 80 idols are immersed. In 24 areas, portable baby ponds have been set up for idols ranging from 3 to 5 feet, and in 23 areas, temporary baby ponds will be constructed for idols ranging from 6 to 8 feet.

The Ganesh Shobhayatra will take place along 354 kilometers of main roads in the city. The GHMC’s engineering department has filled potholes on these roads, and a lighting system has been installed at the immersion centers at a cost of Rs.2.15 crores. The Sobhayatra route has been cleared of tree branches, mud, and other waste. Ten thousand sanitation workers are appointed for sanitation work along the route, and there are 168 teams ready with ten thousand workers, 295 jawans, and 688 SFIs. Each crane is accompanied by twenty-one sanitation workers.

A thousand entomology personnel have been recruited specifically for work on the cranes. In addition to 75 areas, immersions will take place at Hussain Sagar, Sarurnagar Lake, Kukatpally Lake, Kapra, and Malkajgiri Lakes. Security is provided by DRF personnel and yard swimmers at the diving areas. Large cranes have been set up around Hussain Sagar.

The required stages and casings have been set up by the R&B department in different areas. Water bodies will supply drinking water at the immersion centers along the Shobhayatra routes. GHMC has also set up medical camps in various areas. Special staff has been assigned to maintain street lights on the procession routes during the night.
