Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan called for quick action on post-monsoon tasks in Greater Hyderabad. He advised the public to steer clear of flooded areas during rains and use different routes instead.
On Friday, Karnan checked several flooded spots in the city. He told officials to act fast and work with the Traffic Police and Disaster Response Force (DRF) to keep people safe.
In the morning, Karnan and Karwan MLA Kausar Moinuddin visited rain-hit areas. They saw the rain’s effects at Tolichawki X Road, Hakeempet KGN Nalla, Moti Darwaza, Ahmed Colony, and Langar House Huda Tank. After Thursday’s heavy rain, a boundary wall at Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, built by HMDA, fell, damaging several vehicles in Hakeempet. A van, four two-wheelers, and three autos were affected.
Later, Karnan and Traffic Joint CP Gajrao Bhupal checked the Malkam Tank for water levels and traffic conditions.
Efforts involving the traffic police, HYDRAA, Water Board, and DRF teams included removing water, clearing silt and garbage, and enhancing road safety. Continuous monitoring is urged to prevent issues for residents. The Commissioner advised avoiding flooded areas and choosing alternative routes. For civic problems, citizens can reach the GHMC helpline at 040-21111111. Karnan also visited the GHMC control room on Friday.
OSD Anuradha was questioned about public complaints after the rains. The Commissioner ordered swift responses to rain-related issues and prompt notification of field teams. He stressed the importance of real-time updates and measures to avoid inconvenience to citizens.
