The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started a weekly action plan to make sure that all municipal solid waste is collected from every doorstep and to get rid of garbage vulnerable points. GHMC officials have directed all officers to carry out this plan in all basti areas.

The main goal of this weekly basti action plan is to collect all MSW from door-to-door and remove GVPs. Around 1,681 meetings have been held in basti areas involving SHGs, SAT Auto drivers, and SLF members. Some major gaps in garbage collection have been found in slum areas, and over 1,55,635 households have been linked to SATs for garbage collection out of the 19,80,413 households in all basti areas.

Additionally, 1,278 motivational programs have been held with 6,189 citizens, along with 1,177 rangoli programs involving 2,597 citizens and 302 town vending committee meetings for households not connected to SATs. GHMC has also organized 1,681 awareness meetings for eliminating GVPs and recognized SHG workers for their efforts.

The activities in the weekly action plan include a basti meeting on day one, identifying households not linked to SAT vehicles on day two, a rally in all basti areas on day three, a motivational program on day four, a rangoli on day five, a town vending committee meeting on day six, and a pledge and resolution on day seven as a weekend program.
