A teacher and a single student at the Ulsaipalem Primary School in Adivadevulapalli Mandal

Adavidevulapally (Nalgonda): Many government schools in Adavidevulapally Mandal of Nalgonda district are facing closure due to a lack of students, even though the academic year started 20 days ago.

One example is the primary school in Ulsaipalem village. Last year, it had 39 students and six teachers. However, five teachers were promoted and transferred, leaving only one teacher and one student in the school.

Thirty-eight students from this school have moved to private institutions, causing concerns about the future of government education in the area. This trend is not unique to Ulsaipalem, as many government schools in the mandal are experiencing a decrease in student enrollment.

Parents are choosing private schools over government ones, which could lead to more closures of already struggling government schools. Educational authorities need to act quickly to understand why this shift is happening and find ways to support government schools in Adavidevulapally mandal and beyond.
