The Telangana Governor has granted permission to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to prosecute K T Rama Rao in the Formula E Race case. The approval comes after a prolonged wait of ten weeks since the bureau submitted its request.
The ACB conducted an extensive investigation spanning nine months, examining every aspect of the case. On September 9, the bureau formally wrote to the Governor seeking approval to prosecute the MLA. The sanction has now been officially granted, paving the way for further legal proceedings.
The anti-corruption agency is currently awaiting clearance from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to prosecute IAS officer Arvind Kumar. Once that approval is received, the ACB will file a chargesheet against KTR, Arvind Kumar, and BLN Reddy.
During the investigation phase, the ACB has already questioned KTR four times and the IAS officer five times. The bureau has gathered substantial evidence including documents, emails, electronic records, and other materials linked to KTR’s role in the case.
The Formula E Race case has been under scrutiny for several months, with investigators examining financial irregularities and procedural lapses. The investigation has focused on the role of key officials and public representatives in the planning and execution of the event.
The Governor’s sanction is a mandatory requirement under the law before prosecution can be initiated against a sitting MLA. The approval process involves careful examination of the evidence and allegations before granting permission to proceed with legal action.
With the Governor’s sanction now in place for KTR, the ACB is one step closer to filing formal charges. However, the bureau must still wait for DoPT clearance for the IAS officer before it can proceed with filing the complete chargesheet against all three accused individuals.
The ACB has collected comprehensive evidence during its nine-month investigation, including digital communications and official documents that allegedly establish the involvement of the accused in the case.
