Hyderabad: The Hafizpet Railway Station is getting a significant upgrade as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). The renovation is almost done, with a budget of Rs 29.21 crore. This effort is a part of Indian Railways’ plan to update 40 stations in Telangana, with a total budget of Rs 2,752 crore. The goal is to improve amenities for passengers and meet international standards.
Hafizpet is a key Suburban Grade-3 (SG-3) station in the Hyderabad–Secunderabad area, serving about 9,000 passengers every day. Around 60 MMTS trains and 8 express services pass through it daily. Its closeness to the IT areas in western Hyderabad adds to its significance.
The renovation includes upgrades to the station building, better circulation areas, new platform shelters, a 12-meter wide foot overbridge, two lifts, and two escalators. Improved waiting halls, toilets, and platform surfaces are also part of the plan.
Officials report that major work on platform shelters and circulation areas is finished. Façade lighting, signage, lifts, and escalators are almost done. The entire project should be complete in the next month or two.
The ABSS, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to modernize railway stations with a long-term vision. This ensures ongoing development to meet increasing passenger demands and enhance regional connectivity.
