The BJP leadership has been accused of using Backward Classes (BCs) for votes by BRS town president Challa Hari Shankar. He questioned why the BJP did not conduct a census of BCs despite a resolution being passed in the Telangana Assembly nine years ago. Shankar pointed out that if the BJP truly cared about BCs, they would have created a BC Welfare Ministry in the Union Cabinet. He also called on BJP candidate Bandi Sanjay Kumar to explain what he has done for Karimnagar in the past four and a half years before starting his campaign.
Shankar further questioned why a BC leader like Bandi Sanjay was removed from the position of BJP state president if the party truly cared about BCs. He also criticized Prime Minister Modi, who is himself from a BC background, for not doing anything substantial for the BC community. Shankar expressed doubts that BCs would believe the BJP’s promises during election time.
The media briefing was attended by BRS party city general secretary Gaddam Prashant Reddy, BRS party Youth president Kuldi Verma, city minority cell president Shaukat, Karimnagar constituency minority cells president Nawaz, and BRS party leader Ravi Goud.
