Health Minister Emphasizes Need to Control Vector-Borne Diseases in Flood-Affected Areas

Hyderabad: Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha has asked district collectors and health officials to take steps to control diseases spread by mosquitoes and to carry out fogging in areas affected by floods across the State.

On Sunday, the Health Minister held a teleconference with health officials due to the recent floods in Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, and Suryapet districts. During the meeting, he gave instructions on what precautions should be taken to protect people’s health.

He emphasized the importance of taking special care of pregnant women, especially those who are due to deliver within 15 days. The Minister also instructed officials to make sure there is enough stock of medicines in all health centers.

Additionally, he asked the officials to ensure hospitals have a steady supply of electricity and that emergency vehicles are available at all times.

The Minister further directed health officials to work closely with the Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration departments to improve sanitation and carry out vaccination drives in the affected areas.
