Hyderabad airport seizes gold worth Rs 99 lakh

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad has introduced new guidelines for international passengers. Recently, three individuals were arrested by Customs officials at the airport for smuggling 1,633 grams of gold. The value of the gold is estimated to be around Rs 99.57 lakh.

According to a senior Customs official, the accused were apprehended based on profiling. They had arrived at the Hyderabad airport from Ras Al-Khaymah and had hidden the gold in their checked-in luggage. The confiscated gold has been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, and the passengers have been arrested under Section 104 of the same Act. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
